How to send bulk messages on Telegram: which "all" do you mean?
Telegram has no single "send to everyone" button, so the first step is naming the audience. The word "all" covers five different sets of people, and each one has its own native route, its own speed limit, and its own risk. A message to all contacts in Telegram travels through the forward sheet. A message to all group members belongs in the group itself. Subscribers get a channel post, and people who started your bot get a bot broadcast. The fifth set, strangers who never heard from you, has no safe route at all.
We sort every request we get by this table before anyone writes a word of copy:
| Who "all" is | Native route | Ceiling | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your saved contacts | Forward one message to several ticked chats | As many chats as you tick by hand | Free |
| Members of one group | Post once, then pin with a notification | 200,000 members per group | Free |
| People who joined to hear from you | Channel post | No subscriber cap | Free |
| People who pressed Start on your bot | Bot API broadcast | About 30 per second, 1,000 per second paid | Free, then 0.1 Stars a message |
| A bought or scraped list | None | Reports, then limits | Your account |
If you already know the row, skip to its section. If the answer is "a bit of everything", our page on choosing between a channel, a group, and a bot for broadcasts goes deeper on the trade-offs.
How do you send a message to all contacts on Telegram?
You forward one message to many chats at once. Telegram lets you tick several recipients in the forward sheet, so one tap delivers the same message to each of them as a separate private message. There is no "select all contacts" switch, which is deliberate: every name is a choice you make. Here is how to send one message to all contacts in Telegram on a phone:
- Write the message once. Send it to Saved Messages first, so you have a clean copy to forward and nobody sees a draft.
- Open the forward sheet. Long-press the message and choose Forward.
- Tick several chats. On Android, long-press the first chat to switch to multi-select; on iOS, tap Select. Then tap each contact you want.
- Hide the forward label. In the options above the send button, pick "Hide sender's name" so it reads like a fresh message, and add a short line on top if you like.
- Send. Each person gets the message in your private chat with them, not in a group.
That is the whole answer to how to send message to multiple contacts in Telegram, and it is also the honest version of "telegram forward message to multiple users". It works well for dozens of people you actually know. It gets tedious past a hundred, and that tedium is a useful warning: at that size, a channel usually serves your contacts better than a pile of private chats. For the step before all this, opening a single chat with someone by username, number, or link, see the six ways to open a single Telegram DM.
What stops a message to all Telegram contacts from arriving?
Three things. A contact who never installed Telegram cannot receive anything; the app only offers an SMS invite. A contact can block you. And a contact who restricted private messages to "contacts and Premium" will still get yours if you are saved in their phone, but not if the contact only exists on your side.
How to send message to all group members in Telegram without DMing each one
Post the message in the group, then pin it. When an admin pins a message and leaves "Notify all members" on, Telegram's own FAQ says all members will get a notification, including people who muted the group. That one action is the native way to send message to all group members on Telegram, and it costs nothing.
The tempting alternative is a script that walks the member list and writes to each person privately. That approach is how to send bulk messages to telegram group members the way spammers do it, and Telegram treats it accordingly: those members never asked for a private chat with you, so a few of them tap "Report spam", and the account sending gets limited. Groups with hidden member lists block the walk entirely.
Two smaller tools help in the group itself. You can reply to your own pinned post as plans change, and you can schedule the post so it lands when your members are awake. If the group is still small, our notes on adding members to a Telegram group in bulk explain which ways of filling it hold up.
Is a channel the better way to send one message to everyone on Telegram?
For anything you will send more than once, yes. A channel post reaches every subscriber at the same moment, Telegram puts no cap on subscribers, and nobody can call it unsolicited because each reader joined on purpose. If you are asking how to send message to everyone on Telegram who follows your work, this is the route that keeps scaling after the forward sheet gets painful.
A channel also fixes the replies problem. Forward a message to three hundred contacts and three hundred separate threads come back to one inbox. With a channel, you can attach a discussion group so comments collect under each post, or switch off comments and point people to one support chat. Silent posts let you share small updates without a notification, which keeps people from muting you.
The catch is the start. A new channel has zero subscribers, so the first post is usually the one message you do send privately: a short note to your contacts with the channel link. If you would rather bring them in directly, the walkthrough on putting all your contacts into one Telegram group or channel covers the privacy settings that block some adds. After that, channel posts carry the load, and the long-form version of that growth problem lives in the seven types of outreach marketing.
When does a bot make sense for Telegram bulk messages?
A bot makes sense when people have pressed Start and you need to message each of them privately: order updates, reminders, a drop alert. Telegram's Bots FAQ sets the pace. A bot can broadcast about 30 messages per second for free, no faster than one message per second in a single chat, and no more than 20 messages a minute in one group.
Above that, paid broadcasts in @BotFather raise the ceiling to 1,000 messages per second. Every message beyond the free 30 per second costs 0.1 Stars, and the feature only opens for a bot with at least 100,000 Stars on its balance and 100,000 monthly active users. So the paid lane is for very large audiences; most telegram bulk messages go out comfortably on the free rate.
What a bot cannot do matters more than its speed. It cannot write first. A bot only reaches people who started it, which is why a bot is a clean answer for opt-in lists and no answer at all for a list of usernames. Our page on running bot broadcasts to the people who subscribed sets one up end to end. For a closer look at bot tools against account-based tools, read how message sender tools differ in speed and cost.
How to send bulk messages for free, and where the free part ends
Every native route on Telegram is free: multi-chat forwarding, a pinned group post, a channel, and a bot sending at the free rate. That covers how to send bulk messages for free for nearly every small business, creator, and community we talk to. Money only enters at three points:
| Where the free part ends | What you pay | Who needs it |
|---|---|---|
| Bot broadcasts faster than 30 per second | 0.1 Stars per extra message | Bots with 100,000+ monthly users |
| Someone else runs the sending | A service fee | Teams without time to write and pace it |
| Third-party "sender" software on your account | A licence, plus the account at risk | Nobody we would advise |
If you are weighing the second row, our breakdown of what bulk messaging services cost and the rules they follow lists the line items, and which outreach steps are safe to automate shows the parts a tool can take off your hands without logging in as you.
What happens to an account that bulk messages strangers?
It gets reported, then limited. Telegram's own FAQ is blunt about the result: reported accounts "can only send messages to people who have their number saved as a contact". The Terms of Service already rule out using the app to spam users, so there is no appeal argument about volume.
The ladder usually runs like this. A run of private messages to people who do not have you saved draws "Report spam" taps. The account is limited, and you can confirm it by writing to @SpamBot, which also starts the appeal described in Telegram's spam FAQ. Repeat the pattern and the limit lasts longer; keep going and the account is banned. Fresh accounts used to dodge the limit are what the anti-spam system watches for most closely, so that route only shortens the ladder.
Other networks run the same playbook against identical DMs sent in bulk. Instagram, for one, disables accounts that send them, and if a past campaign there left you locked out, this guide on how to reactivate an Instagram account after it was disabled walks through the way back. On Telegram, the safer habit is simple: write first only to people who know you, and let everyone else come to a channel or a bot.
What we check before a bulk send goes out
Last spring a client asked us how to send message to all contacts on Telegram for a webinar: a few hundred saved numbers plus every member of their customer group. We split it. The contacts got one short forwarded note with the link to a new channel. The group got a pinned post with a notification. Nothing went to the group's members privately. The replies landed in the group thread instead of one swamped inbox, and the account kept its normal limits through the whole run.
That job turned into the checklist we still use:
- Every recipient has your number saved, joined your group or channel, or started your bot.
- The message reads correctly with the sender name hidden.
- Large groups get one pinned post, never a member-by-member walk.
- Anything repeated monthly moves to a channel.
- Bot sends stay at or below 30 per second unless paid broadcasts are on.
Good copy still matters once the route is right. Our cold message templates with a line-by-line rewrite show what to cut from a first message, a cold DM campaign notebook covers pacing when you do write to someone new, and cold outreach and its honest reply math sets realistic expectations. For the wider picture, see a DM marketing strategy built on five fixed decisions, or hand the sending to our opt-in Telegram DM service.
